Have these book weights been around for a while?

I believe they made the news a couple of years back, some teacher(?) had one confiscated as a sap at an airport. Can't remember anything else though.
 
They made a big deal about it. She was traveling home with her teenage son. They found the bookweight, insisted it was a weapon, and put her through the third degree.

This style of bookweight has been around for a long time. Never trust a literate academic -- or an illiterate security force. :rolleyes:
 
I have used similar for years. One at home, one at the office. Great for holding a book (or a file) open. Levenger used to carry them.
