First off thank you to all the knowledgeable folks here and also to HI for such great works of art... I have to ask if the Bonecutter was ever produced in the "new" old style? I would absolutely love to snag one. It will/would be my first (of many I am sure) HI product. Am I looking at the impossible or will we see these fine blades on auction again??

Thanks all!

Mrwilliamwonka, they are being made issues in Nepal with coal prices and electricity recently has hindered production. And the floods last year didn't help.
Keep plugging they are worth it:thumbup:

Thank you for your reply :) I will certainly stay on the board going forward to catch updates. I hope everything is well and the problems our friends that make this art are facing are soon a thing of the past.

Welcome Mrwilliamwonka!
As oldschool said, they are still being made and as soon as we can find a way around this coal shortage, production will resume. Until then we do the best we can.

Thank you Karda! You and the other folks in this forum are great! The effort and care that is taken is so appreciated.. I have a case of HIKV and haven't even held an HI product yet. I am just going to keep my eyes peeled for what is posted here as I don't think I can wait. I am ready to buy pretty much whatever is in stock, as I know I will be purchasing as many as possible once I get started. My pops just retired (33 years) from Excel energy so I believe an HI knife is a fitting gift.

In the words of Eddie Murphy "Viva Nepal!"

Mrwilliamwonka-Welcome to the Forum and to HI. If you're stuck on a Bonecutter then you'll probably be like the rest of us waiting for the forges to get fired again. Or you could contact Yangdu if your HIKV is virulent and see if she has any stock that may interest you for your first.

Glad that you're with us and in the words of Forumite mohd: Nepal Ho!

Thank you stickfred. I didn't want to bother her, but methinks I will have to see if she does have anything in stock to tide me over.

Ah you are very wise. The best way to make the time between khuks more bearable is to buy more khuks. If that statement makes sense to you, congratulations, you are now infected with Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus:p:thumbup:

One good thing about H.I. is that they are semi-custom. If they don't have something you want, you could always request it. Hopefully the problems interrupting the shop will be short-lived.
