I'm forgetfull sometimes---I left my newish OD Delica 4 clipped to the side leg pocket of a pair of carpenter jeans---it went through a complete wash and dry cycle(the very hot cycle) and came out without a scratch---not even a paint chip on the clip.

I was folding my clothes---and there it was---right where I left it.

If thats not some tough abuse---I don't know what is---even though I didn't mean to.

The Spydie came out with flying colors.

I hope the heat treatment on the blade wasn't ruined by the heat. I'm not sure how hot dryers get. If the blade starts acting funny, that's probably why.

Most steel is tempered at about 500 degrees fahrenheit, some types of high speed steel (M-2 for example) are designed to be used at 600-700 degrees.
If your clothes didn't burn up in the process I don't think it was hot enough to damage the blade.

I would think the plastic handle would show the effects first.

I heard all the beating going on in the dryer---but just figured is was all the snaps on the jeans and such.

I had a Vic Mini Champ Midnight go through the wash. Came out and the flashlight still worked!!!! Goes to show quality.

Temp in a dryer is less than 200°F.
Many knife alloys (such as the 440 series) are heat treated at ~300°F. Exposure to temperatures below 200°F will not affect the temper.
So, blade in dryer? No problem.

The handle of Delica is FRN = Fiber reinforced Nylon. There is a temperature for thermoplastics at which they will permanently deform with modest pressure. It is called the Heat Deflection Temperature. The heat deflection temp for Nylon 6 loaded with 30% glass fibers (a common loading for FRN) is ~400°F.
So Handle in dryer? No problem.
