On my lunch hour, I dropped into a knife shop downtown and noticed they're now stocking "Wenger" models that sport the traditional Victorinox cross on the scale, and stamp on the tang. From a distance, they're the Wengers we've always known, but up close, they're all Victorinox. What's more, they're all armed with the iconic Victorinox can-opener with the little screwdriver tip, not the old school screwdriver-less can-openers the Wengers always had. I've never been much of a Wenger fan so I don't know all their models, but I can say the shop has a WIDE selection -- including the EVO Grip, EVO Wood, RangerGrip, Evolution -- that are now branded solely as Victorinox knives.*

* I know its old news that Victorinox bought Wenger, but it was still interesting to me to see these in the "flesh" for the first time.

Yes they are neat but not available over here in NA yet....from the pix, They look very cool!

Haven't seen any over on this side of the pond yet. I'm glad that they went with the Vic style can opener, the ability to deal with phillips screws is too important for me.Does anything even use flat style sscrews anymore?

Plus the Vic can opener is a great staple remover. :thumbup:

Amen. On Wengers, that can opener was always a deal-breaker for me.

that shield switch is some neat stealthy way to win over die hard Wenger fans.
But all said, it sure adds variety to the victorinox line.
Pretty sure this cross over Will breath new life.

I think it's great that Vic honored their longtime friend and competitor in such a way! Wenger lives on!

:thumbup::thumbup: to Victorinox!

Well, I for one am glad to see the styles live on, albeit with the Vic's (much improved) can opener.

The other thing I like about Wenger is, the bale profile. I like how it's more reminiscent of the spear points on the old boy scout knives. More belly in the blade is nice.

I´m just curious - do they make the Wenger SI - Wenger Soldat (Pioneer with a bail instead of a keyring) anymore? Or is this a discontinued model?

Discontinued. There are new ones still available on the bay.
