Have you ever done this with a Surefire?

No, not that.

I recently noticed that the Surefire 6R that I was issued at my last department was just a 6P with an extention and a big rechargeable battery. I noted that the 6R is about the same size as a 9P. Would it be concievable to place a surefire B65 rechargeable battery into a 9Z combat light and have a rechargeable combat light? It looks like the 6R and the 7Z are no longer made. I have batteries and chargers for the 6p, but I don't have the light. Also with lithium the light will be brighter than the M2 light.

any thoughts?

thanks

pat

The B65 battery only delivers 6 volts of power. The lamp for the 9Z is 9 volts, IIRC, so the lamp would only have 2/3 of the light output, at best.

Since you guys clearly know your surefires, and I'm a newbie looking to acquire my second [the first is a 9AN415 rechargeable], what do you think of the M3? I can't believe it has same life as the M2 with twice the brightness. I'm looking for a heavy duty, very bright light with decent life. Is the M3 a good choice? Any significant drawbacks or better choices? thanks

Actually, the 6R will be coming back later this year or next year. There will also be a 6N IIRC

Nice guy. Confuse me why dontcha :)
Time to do a bit more research and decide all over again, i guess:confused:

I think the Z29 battery spacer allows you to use 6V Lamp Assemblies (P60/P61) in the 6R with 2 DL123A batteries. There are supposed to be ways to use the B65 in the 6P/9P lights through extendors/spacers. Size15s should be along soon to clarify.
