Have you ever had to stash a knife? Where?

I know we all detest the post-9/11 laws prohibiting knives, but being Knife folk, I'm sure there's been a time or two where you've forgotten to leave your knife in the car, house, etc. when traveling, or going to a Federal/State/City building.

Where's the weirdest place you've had to stash your knife? What crazy lengths did you have to go to to keep your knife? Did you just ditch it?

I noticed a post in a recent thread where someone dropped his knife in the back of a magazine rack and retrieved it at a later date.

When on a field trip to the State Capitol with my 5th Grader, we stopped by the State Supreme Court. I forgot to unload, so on the way in, I pulled the trash bag aside on the large barrel outside, and dropped my knife to the bottom. Did it fairly inconspicuously, and grabbed it on the way back out.

Let's hear your stories.

Ive done garbage back trick a few times with a few different items. Also hide things in bushes

I had an alsdof custom in my pocket flying out of ATL. I have flown out of there probably 50 times for work and always use the same shuttle service. I was running very late for my flight so I left it with the driver (I have ridden with him and got to know him for awhile). I was going to be back in 2 days and would land during his shift. Left him 20 dollar tip and asked him to hold it for me. He picked me up two days later and handed me the knife. I would have just mailed it to myself, but I couldn't afford to miss this flight.

 Props to the driver for hanging onto it for you!

I forgot I had my pocket knife on me while walking into a KISS concert indoors. I had a small metal pocket knife...just a cheapie, but didn't want to lose it. So, I put it in my drawers...got frisked...no problem...as i was walking towards my seat, knife slipped out and went down my pant leg...luckily, it landed in the cuff of my shoe.

BTW, was a great concert..back in 2000 and all 4 original members in full makeup!:cool::thumbup:

Never had to stash a knife, but I did get one past the metal detectors at the Staples center once...

A month ago I was flying to Oregon from Arizona, and I was pulled aside by the TSA and they had asked to search my bag. Since three days prior I had flown down from Oregon and I didn't add any prohibited items, so I was curious as to what they thought they had found. I asked they guy what was up and he said that there was a knife in my bag ("Did I take them all out...?") So he goes through everything and eventually pulls out my Altoids FAK and dumps out the contents... Instantly I knew that I had forgot some emergency razor blades in it. So I give them up and continue on to my flight.

I get home and empty out my bags and my Juice S2 falls out of one of the pockets. :D

I once went to a Browns game and upon reaching the stadium, I saw the huge signs saying "NO GUNS KNIVES FIREWORKS etc". I was carrying a relatively large folder and was nervous they'd get pissed. Of course, they were patting down people and had little metal detectors. I was like "wtf, it is a football game", but then I remembered I was in Cleveland. So I tucked it in right above my junk, between my boxers, jeans, and belt. I made it in just fine, but was chided by my uncle for bring the knife.

Oh, and the Browns actually won that day.

Nope -- you'd be wrong. I try to avoid places like Federal/State/City buildings, concerts and airports. On the rare occasion that I am forced to visit one of those places, I sanitize.

When I saw Phantom of the Opera at the Kennedy Center (great show), I carried and wasn't exposed to x-ray's for the privilege -- times change.

i'm a fan of dumping stuff down the side of cowboy boots. not gonna work for airports or anything like that but everywhere else it goes well

the boots are also a great place to hole your smokes and wallet when your dressed in just a bed sheet toga.

Steelers fan here , miracles can happen huh ? :D funnin' ya :)

Well my boss told me his story , he had an older slipjoint , forgot it was in his pocket at LAX before his flight , so he sat down by a large planter and as inconspicuously as possible buried it by a plant.
Came back a few days later and retrieved his pocketknife.

Yo, one time this off-brand fool from the projects came steppin' and gettin' all up in my grill. So me and my couz was like "BEST BREAK YO'SELF FOOL" and laced the mo'fo, straight up. Then we heard the po-po comin' and my couz was like "Yo holmes, it's the Five-Oh, we best get GONE", naw-mean? So we ditched the blades in a sewer and got the hell out of there.

The game is the game, knowhatimsayin'? That's just how it goes in B-More.

had to throw away a knife going through DFW,

aside from that i dont think the metal detectors work in Six Flags, had a Leatherman Juice, my favorite cheapo rite edge and a boot knife. not even a blip on the radar

Which Six Flags. I used to work as a lessee in all of them, some are notorious for not working, others are very sensitive.

Only if you count having to scramble to mail myself a slipjoint at the airport...

Almost lost my yojimbo when i went to LA City Hall. Had to ditch it in one of the planters outside the building. After 2 hours, I was relieved it was still there where i put it! But during the whole time, kept thinking, how fortunate would someone be if they found it by chance....

Ive been known to stuff a knife in my shoe when getting through the doors at concerts. Never had to actually hide a knife and come back for it later though.

Me and a buddy went to a pre-screening for a movie last year and they were wanding everyone at the door. The way the line was, you couldnt see them until you were right there so we didnt have time to try and stash stuff. I walk up and greet the guy with the wand and he waves it over me without a single beep and lets me in . I was carrying a spyderco karambit and an endura lol. I also had a wallet chain that he waved right over without the detector going off. I think it was out of batteries :D

I generally just leave the Sebenza under some mulch or stashed in a planter outside the museum or courthouse. I've done it dozens of times in the last few years with no issues.

Sure, there's a risk, but it's one I'm willing to take.

Lost a SAK tinker at an airport while picking up a friend: stashed it under a dumpster in the parking garage.

It was gone when I got back.
