So my family and I went on vacation this past week. Had a great time and we've been to this place 3 years now. I always see a knife shop at an outlet mall buy I'm generally too busy swiping the card for my wife and girls but I decided to go in after I saw they were a Benchmade dealer. Most places in my area that sell knives don't have much to offer so I couldn't pass up a shop that may actually sell some good stuff. I was looking at the Benchmades and Spydercos in awe that they actually had some great production knives in stock and then he asked me: "Have you ever heard of Chris Reeve?" I then asked "do you have any?" and he showed me several. I got to look at a few 21's with graphics, a couple of Mnandi's, a 25, and a small Inkosi. I was shocked at how comfortable the Inkosi and 25 were with the finger grooves.

I didn't leave with a knife but it has got me wanting a CRK again. I think the guy enjoyed talking to me about knives as much as I did talking to him. From the time I spent in there it seemed that most of the customers had no idea what they were talking about or looking for. I overheard one guy saying he wanted a knife with "tempered steel."

All in all a great experience!

I totally agree about the Inkosi (small one). Its handle just locks in to my hand. It certainly feels more comfortable to me than my small 21 Insingo, which sometimes almost feels like I'm about to drop it. The small Inkosi feels as big or bigger in the hand to me, even though it's smaller than the small 21. My 2 favorite CRKs are my large Insingo and my small Inkosi.

It's cool the first time you handle a CRK in a B&M shop. I think I handled my first sometime around 1998 or '99.

Ha, ha, I hear you.
the other day I decided to try a local shop, you know "buy local" (that never seems to work for me; I wind up "special ordering" what I want in tools or clothes and what not anyway). So I call up this shop that has been here for ever, just opened a BIG new store. They are a specialty fishing and guide shop. They sell all the fishing gear then take you to someplace "exotic" to get that stuff all wet . . .

So I called them up and asked if they sold pocket knives. There was a long pause on the other end then the guy said "not really . . . we have blah blah blah". I didn't recognize the two knives he mentioned. That was it.

I got online and ordered a Benchmade.
By the way; I'm a happy dog. Benchmade : GOOOOOOOD.

My grail has always been a CRK with tempered steel. :)

I think it's a dream we all share. :D

Where were you at?

I couldn't believe how comfortable that knife was. I would never think it would work in my big paws.

"tempered steel."

Careful now you will set off a big debate on which is better : Tempered steel or not tempered steel.

Me  I don't need to spend all that extra money for "Tempered steel". After all I'm not a "professional". I'm not a "racer".

Sounds like an enjoyable experience. The feedback on the inkosi is much appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
