Have you ever rediscovered knives?

When I got my Arclite a couple of years ago I thought it was pretty cool but moved on the something else and sat it on a shelf. On a whim I grabbed it the other day and remembered why I liked it in the first place. Now I'm thinking I might like it enough to get the D2 version from AG. So I guess I rediscovered the Arclite. What have you rediscovered?

probably not exactly what you mean but I just rediscovered an old knife of mine- my step father pulled it out and showed it to me when I was over there for the Super Bowl. I got it at a flea market in New Mexico years ago and think it could be an old custom stock removal design. blade is a drop point design probably of 440 stainless (I am making a somewhat educated guess, there are no markings of any kind on the blade) and the handle material appears to be silver and has stones like turquoise and others set in it.

One of these days I am going to post pictures of it and see if anyone can identify it for me as either a valuable custom blade or a production knife made by a now defunct company. I'd do it now but I left the knife at my mothers.

I'm in the same boat as you. I think the Arclite is great and I would love the D2 version. I want to try cord wrapping the handle sometime.

yeah, knives in general as a hobby, and balisongs specifically later on.

as a small kind and up til' my early teenage years i was all excited about balisongs and thought they were the coolest knives ever. i had one $30 cheapo, but i was fairly good with it and it wasn't that bad quality actually.

then, more than a decade later when i rediscovered knives as a fun hobby (that was rediscovery #1 ;) ) i was no longer interested in balisongs and thought they were stupid toys for mall-ninja's, like nunchaks and such and ws pretty sure i would never buy these 'toys' again.

but, after a couple of years into the hobby i was suddenly getting interested in bali's again when i learned that Benchmade, and some other companies, made quality ones, i read some stuff about it, looked at pictures, etc....

then finally (this was only a couple of months ago) i bought a BM-31 because i had this urge to have at least one bali in my collection and also wanted to experience if they were still 'fun'. and sure enough, when i took it out of teh box i immediately got the hang of it, just like old times and got that same feeling again like when i was a kid.

so right now, i like these things again, go figure that one. :)

Yeah, I've rediscovered a few Schrade folders I had, in my shooters bag. Took em out and cleaned off, them's collectibles! :D

For several years I carried an original Spyderco Native. For some reason, I set it aside and started carrying others. A couple of months ago I ran across it again. What a great little knife! It is once again my working EDC.

Swiss Army Knives.

Carried them for years, but fell into the "tactical" phase, but recently have found SAK's to be more practical.
