I did (like a year ago) & it still keeps nagging at me.:grumpy::o

I had a Bark River Rogue,a Lil' Nessie & a custom piggyback sheath made by Martin Swinkels. With shipping to the Netherlands both ways, the cost of everything was over $500.
I put it on ebay with no reserve & some guy in Oregon won it for $100.
Begrudgingly I sent it to him & he was extremely happy with it(well duh!).

Now,I thought since I did the right thing,I wouldn't feel that bad,but honestly??I'm still kicking myself for that blunder!

Sure,I could've pulled it & sent him a refund, but that would be a pretty crappy thing to do...wouldn't it?

I like to think he's getting a lot of good use out of that setup & he didn't turn it around & got a higher price for it.

Maybe I'll feel better if I hear some stories about how some of you made some major blunders in knife deals.

I never screwed up that bad....sorry. :D

At least he is not admitting it...

JTR357: Kudos to you for keeping your end of bargain. Man has only two things he must be able to trust: His knife and his word.

very profound...thank you.

Jtr,

It happens. You decided to do the honourable thing and send the package off to him despite the blunder. The goodwill will come back to you sometime.

:thumbup:Thanks guys

That was also the last time I put anything for sale on ebay.

Dang that sucks sorry if I spend over 500 dollars on somthing and it was still in good condition I wouldn't take under 350 for it

That's what the RESERVE option is for.;)

The knives & sheath were all in MINT condition!:o

I does suck that sale went down like that...I would have been sick.

I was....& still am a little.

When it was getting near the end of the auction,I was thinking it would at least hit $200.....nope:grumpy:.I did some serious 'soul searching' that day & THINK I did the right thing.:(

You did the right thing.

Many people would not have , be proud to be one of the few that did.

When it comes down to it , it's just material items that you will lose when you die anyway , right ? :)

I just gave a good buddy of mine a killer deal ( like knocking about $600 off of what they are worth ) on a couple of my firearms , I know the karma will return.

JTR,

I think it was pretty cool for you to follow through and stick to your end of the deal. It says a lot of your character:thumbup:

:thumbup:Thanks guys

I hate the reserve thing, so I just start the minimum bid wherever I feel comfortable letting it go for on the low end.

You showed a lot of integrity that is for sure...and gave the buyer one heck of deal. I hope he appreciates how good of a deal he got.

:thumbup:Thanks for the kind words everyone.

This all came back to me cause I'm currently bidding on another Rogue.I hope I get it(Karma?).I loved that knife.

good on you to honour the deal. but why didn't you set a reserve?

I think I set reserves on it for around $350,for about two weeks, with no bites.I was getting killed with ebay fees,so the last week I put it up with no reserve.I thought "How low could this great setup sell for?"....stupid,stupid,stupid!:o:grumpy::o

No doubt you did the right thing, no matter how bad it hurt.
I won't sell anything without a reserve just for that reason. I know a lot of people say that you don't need a reserve because buyers that know what the item is worth, will find it and pay accordingly.. Obviously thats not true.

You did the honorable thing

Most people would have backed out..

World needs more like you Bro

Dr.Bill

Well,at least I'm an honorable dumbass :o:D

Any stories??C'mon don't be shy.;):D
