Have you ever seen a sheath like this for a buck 110?

I've seen quick draw sheaths before but this thing takes the cake, it's freak Mad Max looking sort of thing. Not even sure how it works.

Yep, Mad Max describes it pretty darn good, very industrial looking.

One could assume that the blade is gripped by the rails, maybe rubber in there?

Seems a maker trying far to hard to have something different.

Well, your not wrong........ :p

It's a real conversation piece that's for sure. I wish I would have snapped it up on ebay but I was a sleep at the wheel that day. I have heard of a Steel quick draw sheath in the back of a biker magazine but I can not find any pics of it anymore. really makes me wonder though just how that thing works and just how good it actually worked.

That looks like an 80's quick draw sheath that I'd see advertised in SOF and Biker magazines.
The knife was inserted into the "sheath" with the blade partially open.
Sort of a block between the handle and blade. When you pulled on the handle of the knife, the block would trap the point of the blade allowing the knife to open.

One must remember, thumb holes and thumb studs didn't exist yet.
The closest you could get was the add on "Flick-It" for your 110.

It looks like it would be super heavy too. It looks like metal construction, unless it's some sort of plastic. Must have been an attempt to get around some one else's patent because the leather ones work just fine. I would still like to get one like that in my Collection though!
