I apologize as I forget the gentleman's name, but he is the owner/inventor of his sharpening system. It is a system that I believe to be an acceptable alternative to Wicked Edge and at a much more reasonable cost. The man loves to talk knives and sharpening. IMO, he has a wealth of knowledge ready to pass on. Give him a call someday, you won't regret it.

Never talked to the owner... I have used the KME, and it's a decent sharpener.

As far as cost... I did a comparison a while back with the KME, and the Wicked Edge new Go model... the price isn't as big a difference as it appears...

KME vs. W.E.

... (many tend to compare the higher end W.E. models, which is a bigger price difference).

Personally, I prefer manufacturers who can be reached by way of forum interaction, be it via PM or thread posts. That being said, I have the Hapstone v7 in mind as an X-mas gift for someone. May end up picking up a second one for myself as I feel the need the understand the system before I can lay down praise or criticism. Native support for 210mm stones is what sets the Hapstone apart for me.

I've talked to Ron once and he's a great guy. The KME is still what I recommend to folks for home use.

The WE Go is certainly a great value compared to the pro models, but you can't put too big a premium on the sort of customer service that KME offers.

I've talked to them several times and have always hung up the phone knowing more than I did before I called. Great customer service!!
