... if you've been backing the wrong horse? For the few short months I've been collecting these beauties, I have displayed a definite preference for fat satin finished blades. Although there are several in this crowd who have held up the DCBB as THE finish of choice, I didn't believe it. I also didn't partake of the THINFI koolaid. Fat is (was) where it's at, baby!

Until about two hours ago.

I got home from work to find a present from the RWBTOJ:

Holy Pork! This thing is sweetness incarnate. I REALLY like how the handles have that butt-flare to fill the palm. And I can't believe how much nicer in the hand the Leaner blade profile feels compared with the Meaner. I have experienced a complete paradigm shift.

Now I just need to get a sharkskin sheath to match the holster for the S&W. And maybe some ram horn grips for it to match the Busse

Although I have some thick safe queens, all of my users are the thinner versions of any given model of Busse.

If you ever want to resell them, then thicker is probably the way to go, as most hogs seem to prefer that.

A 3/16" or even a 0.150" thick BA-E would be a really fantastic knife.

Thanks, Boss. I promise I will take some better pictures this weekend.

Rick - still giddy

To answer your question, rbmcmjr, NOPE, I really dread bead blasted knives. Ever since I had a couple of bead blasted CRKTs rust pretty badly on me, I can't get the paranoia out of my head. You can tell me that the process is totally different until you're blue in the face, but it still isn't going to work, I just can't shake that feeling. I also really like the variety of coatings.

I understand. I have an Entrek Eagle (purchased before I'd ever heard of Busse, gimme a break) with a bead blasted 440C blade and that was the basis for my dislike. It doesn't rust, but it sure picks up marks, including kydex dust from the sheath. It seems like I am always cleaning it.

The double cut finish is orders of magnitude smoother. It really has to be seen to be believed.

Personally, I don't care for the coated blades, but to each his own.

i also prefer satin, wipes clean and i think it builds more interest as it ages.

nice score on that blade

Very nice,

I am getting to where I want a knife to feel "Just So" in my hand.

Looks are purely gratuitous, like Gravy even.

I do of course like gravy,
