Have you ordered from Discount Knives recently??

I would like to know whether you ordered from Brian recently. I made my order on Feb. 21, it was confirmed but I have not received the order yet.

The knives are for Bart in Belgium and I am leaving on Sunday.... I have been sending Brian e-mails for past 4 days with no reply.

I would like to find out whether he does not have some technical problems (maybe health problems...) - why he does not respond.

Please do not post your experience with Brian here (either good or bad), just whether you contacted him this week and whether he responded.

Sorry to say, but can't avoid getting into a service discussion.
I ordered knives from Discount knives last of november, got confirmation of order in beginning of december, and a note that they would ship the week after. When I haden't recieved anything by mid december I started wondering, but hanged on. Wrote a mail asking whats up in the beginning of january, no answer. Mailed again in mid february, no answer, still no knives. Asked same question as you on rec.knives, and some said he had problems, some that they had ordered and gotten their knives recently.
Canceled the order a few days ago. No mail from Brian since i ordered, and no knives.

Waste of time for me, and loss of customer for him.
 
This is not my first order from Brian. I have had only good experience with him so far. Fast and reliable service (and I always confirm that the knives are in stock before I order).

That is why I do not post it in GBU forum.

If moderators think this should be moved there - it is OK with me. I just thought I would get more responses here.

In a sense this isn't spot on to your question. I had two dealings with Discount Knives well over a year ago. In both instances, apparently the items I ordered were in stock, and arrived very promptly. I was thinking, "HAPPY DAY!" until I opened the second package.

It was my first linerlock, the Scimitar from Cold Steel. I'd never even handled a liner lock before. I absolutely could not open the knife one-handed. Got it to move a bit right-handed, couldn't budge it left-handed. Talked to Brian, he said send it back, and he'd replace. I did, he didn't. But, at least he did reassure me that I just had wimpy thumbs.

Took over two months or repeated phone call -- efforts more than completed calls -- innumerable e-mails, and finally at long last, he sent me a refund -- for the knife price -- not shipping either way.

So, in IMHO, sounds like nothing has changed. I had the impression he ran a 1 man shop, and simply couldn't keep up with the volume. For certain, he either has too poor a memory to be in that business, or gets off on telling folks he doesn't know them, hasn't received anything from them, etc.

I know, I know, this belongs on G,B,U.

I currently have an order in also. One knife showed as being in stock, but the Almite Navigator did not when I ordered. I received an email confirmation 2 days later that my order would be shipping within 7 to 10 days. I've been trying to use the store's online tracking, but UPS doesn't show it as shipped yet. Today is the 10th day.

Seeing that I knew I was going to be backordered, I'm not all that surprised. Merchants are often at the mercy of bad weather and manufacturer's promises. I will, however, give the store a call this afternoon, and see when my knives will shipping.
 
I just got off the phone with Discount Knives. The gentleman there was very friendly and helpful. He said that the Almite Navigator was a limited edition product, and could take a considerable amount of time to get in. Under the circumstances, I decided to change my order a little bit, a get a Military instead.
