I was in the market for a day hike, back up survival knife. I do the backpack backcountry thing but also day hike fly fishing. I have multiple large blade choppers, small neckers and a few mora camp knives. I was looking for a midsize fixed blade that could put in the work. It was between the rodent 6 and rodent 5 and RMD. Weight was a small consideration....I came across a sweet R5 at a great price. I know my knives and do my research so I know this is a good purchase. What I don't see is a lot of reviews or opinions on the R5. is it underrated as it lives in the RMD's shadow? With a bit more weight it should be better as a emergency chopper.. a bit more length... not sure if im missing something.
Who's owned one, what are your opinions? With the RMD being so loved.... the R5 should be right there with it correct?
thanks
