I am so busy I don't even have time to get to the computer these days.
I generally like to make more of a nuisance of myself than I have been lately, but I just really don't have much spare time outside the shop these days.
However, I did finish up a knife with some new material that I thought was extraordinary.
I saw Mark Farley have some of this on his site and I had to have some. (Since I got the first block, I already ordered another one!)
It's called Silky Oak.
Every direction you look at it something else is going on. :eek:
It moves all over the knife.
It has these striations of iridescence in it that sparkle and do all kinds of cool things.
And it's just solid as a rock.
Anyway, I had a moment and wanted to participate a little bit here before the long cold winter sets in and I have to shovel my way back and forth from the shop.

Karl, That is sweet. I noticed you use the yellow shop towel for polishing your handle. I really like those:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing

Wow, really cool stuff! It's weird the way those striations run perpendicular to the grain. I'm sure it's even better looking in hand. Any photos of the whole knife?

awesome beauty, a genre that I did not know of its existence, as the oak is one of my favorite woods, can you tell me where I can buy;

Beautiful (as are the pics of the entire knife in the other thread).
Glad you took time out of your busy schedule to post the pics.

:eek: Yowza!! That sure is a beauty, Karl.
I have never saw wood like that. Sweet:thumbup:
