Have you seen that new Case?

I think the number just refers to pattern number or something. The steel is probably their Tru-Sharp stainless.

Is that good or bad :D

Sorry for my english :o

I read somewhere here yesterday that "Tru-Sharp" is actually 420HC, I think the same formula as Buck's Stainless.

My Case knives with "Tru-Sharp" have held up really well.

thx - cpr

They mention only two types of stainless steel on ther website - 'surgical SS' and 'ATS-34'. The surgical SS is probably something like 420HC.

I assume is 429HC then.
Too bad, I wanted a little better steel in this ones.

Thanks for the help!

would love to get the orange drop but on eBay it's too expensive and shipping to italy is high for the auctions I found.

This ATS model is nice, but it has the soft handles.

Surgical stainless typically refers to 300 something stainless. Not exactly great cutlery steel, which fits the Case stainless IMO. I really dislike that stuff. The CV steel (0170-6 perhaps?) and I get along fine. I won't willingly buy a plain stainless case as I'm not a collector and that's about thev only use I could see for SS of that low quality.

I do have a Case Slimlock in BG42. If they made all their SS knives in that steel it would be worth their prices. Joe
