Hoping this is the right place to post this question...

I have been thinking of trying to sell some stuff on ebay. My question is, is the paypal account you need to sell, the same account that you would use to buy items?

I have purchased items before, my credit card is linked to my paypal account, I buy something, my card is used...how does that work if I sell something? Seems like I would want the money from items sold to go into a bank account. Is a sellers account simply an expanded buyers account...do you simply add an account for deposits?

Basically I hope someone here can give me a walk through on how to set up to sell on ebay, and any tips or what have you on doing so.

Thanks.

You can set it up however you like bud. The money i made i just left in my paypal acct, i dont believe i ever transferred any money into my bank acct, but its been yrs since i sold anything.

When it comes to selling just be very descriptive and take lots of quality pics. Its fun for a while but gets old quick when you have to mail a number of items off everday and work a seperate full time job. Not to mention the countless number of idiotic questions you have to answer everyday.

Good luck.

And you only need one acct. Unless you want to have 2 seperate ones. Like a business acct and a personal acct.

You can go on eBay and look around a bit and find out whatever you need to know, after all they want you to sale stuff because they get paid when you do, so it's all there in black and white.

When you change your account to a seller account you have the option to add your bank account to transfer funds or you can request paypal send you a check. Transfering to your account is quicker at about 2-3 business days while sending a check usually takes 4-5 business days.

I personally have one of there debit cards thats linked to my account. Makes it easy to spend my money.

Im thinking about selling my soul on ebay.

Reported! Offering your soul without at least a gold membership is a no-no. :grumpy:

You can use you PP account for buying and selling. If you sell something on eBay, the funds go to your PP account. Then you can transfer them to your
bank account. When you set up a seller account on eBay you have to give them a credit card and your PP account info for billing purposes.

Be sure to read the fee schedules on both eBay and PP. You may be surprised at how much it costs to sell something on eBay.

If you decide to sell on eBay make sure that you fully understand the rules and the process. I think that most of the complaints that you see
are from people who didn't bother to learn how to do things properly. It's not difficult, but you do have to have at least two brain cells to rub
together.

At the end of the year you will now receive a 1099 for your sales and have to report it on your taxes.
If you leave you account in pp, a disputed item could lock it down until a resolution is reached.

I have bought and sold quite a bit on Ebay, but not lately.

I've sold lots of stuff on Ebay. It's great, they do take 10% though. I always come here to sell knives, but I try ebay too if it don't work here.
Paypal makes it pretty easy to transfer money to your bank account, but I typically just spend the money either here or on Ebay again. It depends on how much you're selling I guess. $100 is easy to spend online, $1,000 is a little more difficult, for me anyway.

I find that on ebay if you take lots of pictures and respond to any questions cheerfully and quickly it really helps with sales. Honesty is always important too, and fast shipping. I always ship with delivery confirmation and insurance just in case. I have not had any problems with sells on ebay.
