my fiance and i are flying next week to vegas to celebrate our anniversary...
i havnt flown in years (6+) and i dont think i can carry onboard what i used to :(

any tips on what i should do fellas?
whats allowed for carry on... i know you cant bring any weapons or anything
but i heard you cant even carry a bottle of juice on the plane if its not purchased within a certain area in the airport.

if i plan on checking in my bags has anything changed? if i wanted to bring my 12" baby chitlange in checked baggage could i lol?

also, any good knife related places i should check out?

EDIT: i hope i dont miss out on any DOTD while im gone.

Check your airline's web site. They should have a link to a page listing what you can and can't carry on. It's not so much about "weapons" as "things vaguely resembling weapons."

Do not make jokes about guns or bombs. You can't lock your luggage, so I wouldn't check anything too tempting. To make security a little easier, put all metal (keys, change, phone, pens) into your carry-on luggage. Wear shoes that are easy to take off and put back on. Do not walk on or set luggage on recently fertilized lawns (nitrogen is common in both explosives and fertilizer and might be detected by screening devices).

Like others have said check the regulations, they change practically weekly. At last count they once again allowed lighters, but only one and it must be in your pocket not in checked luggage. One week earlier (that was in sept when I flew to Toronto) they allowed no lighters at all, only one book of matches.

I think passengers are still required to carry all liquids in your checked luggage. Make sure your knives are well wrapped incase your liquid stuff leaks. You know how the baggage handlers throw suitcases around.

...and even if the staff knew all the regs, there's the problem of what the regs actually say or mean to them. So bring as little as possible. Liquids are OK now under some circumstances but I doubt the guards at the detectors are going to be on the same page at different airports or even machines.

If you are bring something of value, or a khuk or a firearm, package it well and of course check it into baggage.

i dont think i want to risk anything in checked baggage.... guess i gotta buy a cheap folder and check that in. who cares if i lose it

is it just me or does everyone feel naked leaving the house without a knife in the pocket?

i cant imagine being on a plane without anything that has an edge... cant believe im not even allowed my zippo

what has the world become :barf:

I find last months crack down on liquids a little ridiculous. Did Homeland security and its british counterpart just figure out that liquid explosives exist or did they decide to wait untill someone tried to blow up a plane using them to do anything about it? Really Nitroglycerin has been around for longer than any of us have.

Grob

But nitro is pretty unstable stuff, and from my understanding (which is limited in most areas, but especially in the area of explosives) dogs detect it pretty easily.

The Binary explosives are neither unstable nor easily detected by trained dogs. That was my understanding of why the crackdown.

Personally I don't know what is the perfect security solution, but my wife flew to Los Vegas and back last week, and although her arms are tired, she seems fine.

well i'll be leaving in the morning... i hope i dont miss any DOTD's
i'll try to keep posted on my blackberry but i dont think i will be able to shark that quick on it :p
only thing i have in checked baggage is my leatherman wave  guess im good to go.

im carrying on a dorcy flashlight... that wouldnt give me a hard time would it?
