I must have whats called "knife block" I'm looking for a new folding knife but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What I want is at least a 4inch blade but no recurve drop point or tanto. Clip point is okay as long its not shaped tradtional. Plain edge only with a strong lock, and g10 handle with enough ergo were it won't be slippery or poorly designed. Example, some knives like an early BM pika I have has no textured and gripping the knife feels like its going to slide right through your grip and the blade dig right into your hand. I also don't want to pay for a name. Paying $100 for an Aus 4 blade and zytel scales is a rip off. So the price should match the quality of the blade. If its worth paying for it has to be a solid quality tool. I like the BM 710 but not the recurve, I like the BM 806 but its long gone...the Spyderco military blade seems too thin, and not worth the price of a liner lock, the Cold Steel recon 1 spear point has a combo edge but with zytel and aus 8 doesn't seem worth the $90.00 tag I've seen. Not really sure whats out there to get.

the military is plenty think IMO, either that or you could check out the manix 2. maybe the new benchmade onslaught. that has a nice big blade.

Maybe a Benchmade Hardtail?
(model 13100)

It's sort of a cross between the 710 and a Buck 110.

I think you would be surprised how strong the Military's lock is. It is a superb knife for the money.

If you can find it, a Darrell Ralph designed Cuda Dominator in S30V w/titanium handles is IMO an excellent choice. The blade is a modified clip-point with some "belly" in it and the handle shape fits the hand well. While not my EDC, I do carry one often.

Tony thanks for the picture of those three knives. The Hardtail will be my next knife. I own many 110s already and several 710s. I'm Not crazy about the scull in the G10 but otherwise love the pattern. An awsome 4 inch clippoint blade in D2. What could be better. :)

Hardtail is great - I've had one fo a while now. Edge gets toothy when you sharpen.

Did you take a look at the ZT 0500 MUDD?

What about a PE Kershaw RAM ?

I ground the recurve out of my Benchmade 710. My original D-2 knife was sold and replaced with a CM-154 model. The stainless non-recurve blade could only be improved by adding some Vanadium (S30V). If the handle is too slippery, buy and use checkering set.

Ha ha, The ZT0500 was the first knife I thought of after reading the op description. Now would be a good time to get one as they are discontinued.

I would get a Military, the lock is super strong, I'd trust it over many other so-called superior locks. Spyderco makes some awesome liner lock knives.
