The Fehman is the clear choice, IMO. That Strider will eat up your hands in no time.

i have no input on the striders. ferhmans have one of the best big knife track records on the forum. my final judgment has chopped mesquite for 10 months & all i need to do is strop it on the diamond loaded ferhman strop to bring edge back to shaving sharp. not many knives can attest to that performance. eric ferhman to my knowledge is one of the longest makers to use this alloy. i may have missed something but most of striders are folders in s30. i think it wiser to go with the man whom has a proven track record.

Another vote for the Fehrman. And I just noticed that GP Knives indicates that 3V is stainless. Really???

It was brought up that the strider handle looks uncomfortable and I completely agree. I think you would be really happy with the fehrman and would always wonder about the fehrman if you bought the strider.

Thanks for the reply's. I do think the Fehrman seems to be the better choice for what I want it for. Thanks again

I'd take the Fehrman too. That Strider handle looks like it would chew your hand up in relatively short order. Cool look, but not practical at all.
