From my supertool. I have been tossing around getting a new Leatherman for the last 6 mos or so. After 10 years of use, my Supertool is starting to look its age. Still works like a charm, and it will probably find a place of honor in the kit I keep in the car. But damn if it isn't hard to walk away from a tool that Works so well. When my SAK got stolen in college - Supertool to the rescue. Whenever I really need a tool, the supertool has been there. Anyone share my experience - it seems like the only item I have that I'm not rushing to get the newest latest thing.

I still have my Leatherman SuperTool and like it better than Leatherman's current multitools. The screwdriver blades are great it it seems to have all the tools I need except for a scissors. However, it has taken a back seat to the Victorinox Spirit and SwissTool X which I use now.

I see the later version, the SuperTool 200, still for sale in Sportsmart and Dick's Sporting Goods stores.

i own both and went back to my super tool .. 1st week out i had lost both screw driver bits on the surge .. and it weighs alot more .. my sheath lasted 2 months of hard use here in alaska while my super tool keeps going and i can never loose my screw driver bits lol ..

i do however like the file and inter changeable blades ..but when i needed the bits the most it was no where to be seen .

If you are satisfied with its performance, there is no reason to replace your Super Tool. I had been using one for ten years, found it endlessly useful, saving the day several times. Then, although having grown fond of it to the point of emotional attachment and not in the market for a replacement, through a series of events (long story), I wound up with

Buy a Core! It is a great replacement for a supertool.

and danged if Rick isn't right! I have been using a Core since January and have found it a worthy evolution of the design. It keeps all the good stuff, plus easier to use. The Super Tool is now semi-retired in my car's glove box. I don't miss scissors on either tool because I also carry a Micra, weighs next to nothing and disappears into my jeans watch pocket. Those items (and a credit card ;) ) and I am ready for the world!
