I'm to cheap to pay full price for a bk3,I saw a blank on fleabay and could justify the price and might just learn something.

I figured it's pretty close to start with and I could use my lansky.

I got a pretty good edge on it atleast I thought.

I haven't attempted any serrations yet but did get line hook good and sharp. I made liners out of home depot bucket lid, not pefect but good practice for kydex liners down the line.Pink lanyard so I can find it easy in emergency box, plus my daughter thinks it's cool. I LIKE IT!!!

Really nice, mind if I do a review on it? Just kidding, but it is really nice, I don't even think the florescent pink bracelet is overkill, working at Boy Scout summer camp, it's the only color keeps staff stuff with the staff.

The only serious question I have about it is why are the dimples so deep?

first time and dont know what i'm doing i suppose. to oXide Still learning how to navigate this forum.

Very nice. The main reason I sold my BK3 was the serrations. I'd love to have one without. I'll have to keep my eye open for one of these blanks.

I wasn't asking to criticize your work, I was just wondering what your personal reason to do it was.

Hey oXide, the grivory is a little slick and i might of went a little overboard with the stippling but the grip is really improved! I have a couple leftover handles that I've replaced with micarta. Because this was a blank I've got to use up some leftover knife parts( scales, sheaths) most of all it was fun and a learning experience. Have a good one man !

Looks really good Guineaman, I like the look without the serrations much better. The scales look good also.

That is pretty cool!! Good job. I too might have to keep my eye out for a blade blank.

I didn't think Ka-bar did blanks? I had assumed that it was a Cam blank, then went back and it says Ka-bar.

Thank you! these blades are so usefull and fun to tweek to your needs and desires. I also have a bk9,2,11,14,13. it's always so enjoyable to make them mine!

Very nice! Sucks that people who sell these blanks wont ship internationally. SOOO moving to the US!

Freakin' awesome. The serrations are there to support the chisel grind, when it comes to cutting material, if you got a good edge, which it looks like Gman did, then, ta hell with them serrations.

That is a fine example of the BK3, and great work. Thank you for posting this up.

so the blank still has the linecutter? dang, thats the only thing about the 3 I dont like. Was hoping when I saw ''blank'' in the title it was un-hooked.

still, a nice job finishing it out.

that is awesome.

I want a BK-3, but a fine edge BK-3 would just seal the deal.

Great post, I like it.

:D

To be fair, it's not a line cutter. It doesn't come sharpened from the factory, even on finished BK3's. It's designed to be used as a chipper. A few minutes with a chainsaw file can turn it into a decent line cutter, though.

But like you, I'd be happier if it wasn't there.

and a grab hook for wires, and snagging line, and sure, you COULD cut paracord or stuff if you want, but it's NOT a seatbelt or other cutter, despite the close similarity.

but as stated, you can put a wicked edge on it with some work.

Oh dang! I didn't realize that there were no serrations on the blade! I wish (when I still had her of course) that my BK3 had a plain edge. Then again, it wasn't a blank!

As for the pink, we know damn well that it wasn't because it was easy to see...:D

Freaking awesome though my friend!
