Having problems sharpening on EdgePro

I seem to be dulling my knives. I am not certain how the blade is suppose to rest on the EdgePro. Should the blade be laying completely flat? The reason I ask is because if it isn't I can not control the blade.
 
The blade does have to be flat, but you still have to get the angle of the stone correct. Paint the edge of your knife with a Sharpie and make a dry pass with the stone. Then look at the edge with a 10x loupe and see what's going on. Recurves, thick sabre grinds and knives with aggressive distal tapers can be a challenge on the EdgePro.
