Having problems with bm tanto griptilian

I have sharpened this knife but it gets dull rather easily.Is the tanto blade on this model too tick or does anybody else has similar problem.Usually I sharpen my knives freehand to hair splitting edge but havent had any experience with benchmades 154cm steel... My spyderco knives are all razor sharp and hold good edge.
 
some tanto blades can be thick and need thinned down some. i have several knives made from 154cm and they take a good edge. i have 2 custom tanto knives that you can shave with easily and they are made from 3/8" 440c. they have thick edges.
 
will try thinning the blade down little.Most factory grinds have an angle thats way too high to get really sharp.
 
i think i have sharpened a few griptilians that were not bad but i have done a few that needed a thinner edge. most of the time a factory set edge cuts just fine. i try to match factory edges unless the customer wants it changed.
