If you're gonna do your side of seared medium-rare beef such a disservice (or, in this case, accidentally overcooked it and need to add some moisture and flavor back in), why not slather it with the best of condiments?

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you BEER KETCHUP. Three parts ketchup to one part beer. Mix to combine, and enjoy.

A great beer on its own, Innis & Gunn is described by its crafters as a "smooth Scottish beer with natural hints of toffee, vanilla and oak." The interplay between the tangy ketchup, the fizzy beer and its undertones, and the salty steak, the harmony created by these three usually separated friends communicates to us through our mouths the feeling of liveliness just as the Beatles' harmonies do to us through our ears. This is not a mere mindless "manly" meal, calling for a bloody hunk of beef clumsily washed down with some alcohol. This is joy, happiness, a virtuous, peaceful way of life calling out to us in the only way we all can recognize: through serendipity, showing us that there is some greater power watching us from above looking to make sure taste buds experience something that even we may not have, but bringing it closer to us still so that we know that there is still good in the world, that there is always a brighter future, a optimistic side to every problem that can help us overcome our most stubborn of poor habits, our forget our most scarring of bad memories, and realize that we are all friends, and it just takes the right attitude.

Also, I like steak and beer. So there you go.

Beer ketchup. The next best thing for steaks.
Mix your own and share

looks good... errr interesting?

hey - depending on your hand size you may need to tie an extra knot in that chopping lanyard for a snug fit  you can never be too cautious when cutting steak

Folks, try it  you will not be disappointed. You tried INFI, right? This is basically the same thing!

I'm gonna play around with the lanyard a bit in the coming days. I'm full and sleepy at the moment  thanks again, though!

Interesting. I will give it a shot ASAP. In the words of Pokey, "you had me at beer".

does it work with Root Beer ?

I make my BBQ sauce with beer . Let the steaks or ribs marinate all day . Open an ice cold beer (BBQing is thirsty work) then toss the food on the BBQ . It's a tough life , but somebody's got to do it :very_drunk:

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

You got my mouth watering. Didn't realize beer and steak could be such an epiphany.

A proper rare/medium rare rib-eye needs no accompaniment, BUT, assuming you have had too much to drink and committed the sin of overcooking your steak, then, and only then, this might be OK to recover some flavor.

This I would agree with.
