I've been having a hard time finding a gransfors bruks axe in stock anywhere online. Does anyone know of a store that has them? In particular I'm looking for the small forest axe or Scandinavian forest axe.

Thank you,

Scott

Jax Mercantile has them in stock on their website and in their stores, I saw them when I was in there the other day. Brad.

I ordered a Hunters Axe yesterday from AG Russell in Arkansas. They had a nice selection still in stock. No free shipping, but they have them. They had the two you mentioned also.

Getting ready to order one myself - thanks for the tip!

Lee Valley Tools carries the full range of GB axes, great to deal with and they always seem to have everything in stock, I've bought all of mine from them. They have locations in, and ship from, both Canada and USA

A lot of places are out of stock right now..All the cheapest places are it seems..Baileys use to have very good prices on them. They don't even list them now..A lot of places that do have them are still sold out of certain models. They are bound to be having an issue keeping up with orders..

Sometimes manufacturers keep the price of their product high by reducing product volume/availabilty. I wonder.......................

When I visited Gränsfors last year, they told me 80% goes to export every year. I can't seem to recall how many axes the produce every year, but it's probably many many axes.

They said that 80% of the axes they sent to Japan was splitting axes, to the US and Canada they shipped mostly forest axes.

How much does a GB Scandinavian cost in the US? Here in Sweden it goes for around 90$

Just curious when any of you guys orde from Lee valley since its a Canadian company did you have to pay any duty's or import fees?

A quick search online says about $140.

I got my SFA back when they were about a hundred bucks at Lee Valley, maybe five years ago. Now they are something like $130.00-140. Since then I have learned about many far less pricey but still perfectly functional Swedish axes, from some well respected manufacturers, at far lower prices. And of course there is Council and refurbs. My last two buys were a Husqvarna traditional axe and a Stihl hatchet which together cost less than replacing my SFA.
