I got this a couple of months ago from another forumite and he said it ad been carried by a Gorka during the Korean conflict. It has an 11.5" blade, ~15" overall (slightly more), is 5/16" thick, 13/16" at it's widest point, has a water buffalo horn handle brass pommel and ferrule, and no identifing markings. I'd love to figure something out about this as it would help me determine what I want my next one to be. Sorry I don't have any pics or weights.

Thanks in advance.

To begin with MYKL, Gurkhas were not involved in the Korean War. Other British troops such as the BlackWatch were. A photograph you could provide on this forum would probably get you answers about your Khukuri. Let me know if I can help...Cheers!

I thought that as well, however who am I to doubt what another forumite told me when I was purchasing said knife. I'll see if I can scrounge up a pic from somewhere.

Can I know the reason why they weren't involved? Is it because the British weren't very much involved? Sorry I'm so ignorant about this subject!

Craig I really do not know why the Gurkhas were not involved in Korea. Its possible that a small element of Gurkhas were in Korea but there is no mention of them and my friends with Gurkha connections all say NO to Gurkha involvment...Oh well I still love my Jungle fighter! Cheers!

Well. we're currently in the process of moving and I can't find my camera so I'll get them up when I get to unpack. Thanks

Mykal got it from me but I think the Korean aspect needs claification. I got it from a First Sergeant who got it from a Gurka while he was in Korea, but not during the Korean War. I think he said it was while he was serving there in the 70s or early 80s. Hope this helps to clear some thing up.:)
