I'm not sure on the voiding warranty thing, but I have tried to take my Maxx apart, and one of the screws in the handle just spins. I can losen and remove every other screw, but this one. Is this something I can remedy on my own, or should I send it in? Since I haven't taken it apart yet, is this something that would be covered by the warranty?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'm interested in installing the bronze washers, and deep-carry clip, as well as just giving it a good cleaning.

Alright DD here's the deal. The screw is probably loctited and that is causing the spin. I would do the following if the knife were mine....and I have done this wirth no problems. Boil the knife for 5 minutes....yes I said BOIL it. Take it out and take a wide straight edge screwdriver that has the tip padded with tape , cloth, or a bit of leather...just something to keep it from scratching the inside of the handles. Next, insert the screwdriver into the handle halves close to the stubborn screw and twist the screwdriver to apply pressure. At the same time start unscrewing the srcew and maintain pressure until it is loose or out.

Sounds weird....but it works.

Wow, Art

While I have not had any problems with disassembling my Maxx, your instructions will be filed away for future reference.

That is just a great way to handle a problem that could get out of hand very quickly.

Thx

Well, I jumped the gun, and stripped out one of the screw heads. After boiling the knife, I still couldn't get the screws out and now have two stripped screws (both of the back ones). Anyway, I'm able to remove the blade, and clip, so converting to Bronze washers, and low carry clip won't be a problem. I'll eventually get those screws apart...

Thanks for your advice, BTW. The handles looked mighty perty after their bath!:D
