So I got my first Busse at blade show; a HACK wardog; the shorter, satin finish version. My problem is that I can't get into the idea of using it. I mean look at how nice it is.

I've seen a hundred "Should I use it" threads, so I kind of know most people will say that I should, but I just can't bring myself to destroy that beautiful satin finish. Someone please talk me into it.

I decided to use it in the backyard today, posting a separate thread with pics.

go find a large branch, and whittle something right now, or better yet, cut down the tree with it first, to find your branch to whittle

Throw it, chop something with it, shoot it, do something.

I have a hard time keeping a Busse that I don't use, so quick, use it now!!!

here you go some inspiration :)

It's the 4th of July, go grill you a steak! It's 7pm here, so it's too late to thaw one, so you'll have to go buy one. They're won't be any good cuts of meat left this late in the grocery store. Perfect! Get a Big ass sirloin or something tough & chewy. Prepare it however you prefer & use the hack to eat it. Now you've got that chewy ass steak stuck in your teeth. What to do? well a broom handle, table leg, or any wrist thick piece of wood'll make a perfect toothpick, it just needs a liitle trimming. But how do to do that? Hack it!!!

I feel yah, I can't imagine ever using my scrapyard muk. If they were readily available for purchase and prices weren't so inflated due to demand I would have no problem using it. But when you know you can't find another one and if you do you're paying double for what it retails for.... it's hard to get yourself to use it.

Busses are best appreciated when abused, then cleaned, oiled and stropped for the next hard use. Two of my three Busses are used weekly chopping wood. I have another Busse EDC that has very little use, but more carry use.

no the feeling but why own it if your not gonna use it? I got a Regulator saturdeay and beat it up saturday night at a fire. felt great!

I know the feeling well...In fact, I had to go get a "user" from someone--after having already purchased several that were "new"; thus forcing me to get down and dirty with it. When you do finally "use", it will be just as difficult to stop!:D

Not many trees around where I live, but I think I'm going to try it out on a block of pine tomorrow. I might need to get it sharpened, though; it came pretty dull.
The knife, that is.

Beat it up!!! You'll be surprised how tought that satin finish is! I smashed the hell out of my MOAB and it's got almost nil scratches!

I second Rob's advice. The satin finish holds up well. What kills the finish is dirt/grit in a sheath or something like that. Regular use doesn't really scratch them up. My ashle has scratches but I like the knife much better now. I don't really get attached to a knife until I use it a lot. As long as they are not 'ooops' I just dropped my knife on the cement driveway and I haven't even used it! Use it, so then when u drop it you won't feel so bad. :)

Help any?

You got to use your knives. Also as these knifes are harder to find, a user is worth nearly the same as a mint knife.
