I love this custom chopper that Daniel made for me last year, and it's my first custom knife. I drew it up, threw some ideas over at Daniel, and he brought it to life. Having used it quite a bit, I found that the horse-stall mat over glow micarta was a bit too thick for my hands, and although the grip was very secure with the cushy stall mat, the width made the knife twist slightly when used as it was designed. I saw pics of some new knives Daniel had been working on recently, and really liked the handle profiles on them so I contacted Daniel about doing a re-handle.

As I first received it:

Loving it even more. Daniel also went ahead and re-finished the blade, touched it up and removed scratches. I'll have to go out and take care of some felled trees from hurricane Sandy, and put some new scratches on it :)

Thanks a lot Daniel!

Yea, it glows in the dark!

I like to refer to it now as Glowy Jadecarta (after Daniel's daughter, and more fitting, as it does look somewhat like jade) :)

Sweet! I know that knife is your baby, kinda like me and my rigger! Go get it scratched up!

Dude, I love how the grind line swoops down in the front! Everything just seems to floooooooow so nicely! I do not have a chopper:(...... yet:D when I do get one it will defenitely be a Fairly!

Now you need one of these to go with it... :D

I know! I had a Havok V with the horse-stall mat and double grind but let it go. Still contemplating on another Fairly sidekick to the X :)

That really means a lot to see that, just awesome! Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.

Krypto!!!
:D

Krypto is rare stuff these days, I don't think it is being made anymore.

 It looks like some nice Burmese Jade at a glance to me! I noticed it had a nice glow to it, some parts were really strong.

I actually made a small poster of the knife sans grind and thought about the grind forever before doing it... it came out just like I planned and that means a lot that you like my style! I like to think about style a lot and it is fun making it happen when it all comes together.

DFK Chopper - I'm finishing up some now and will make more somewhat soon, I want to make some in .315" maybe A2 or S7

Now you need one of these to go with it... :D

Nice! By the way I never mind when my photos are used for good. Thanks...

I will be doing more harpoon tips and they will be with a nice slicey tall thin grind... even doubles are a possibility. I am moving to a run oriented format and want to work in some things like that.

Thanks again guys! Great to see this thread.

I have been busy as can be here, running around everywhere. My shop is probably being inspected tomorrow and once that is over I will celebrate for sure!

That will be the last inspection if all goes well.

The massive turbo 4x4 Caterpillar is here already, tomorrow teh massive trench will hopefully be dug, inspected and covered along with the last shop inspection! yay!

Exactly! The guy parked it between a tree and my address sign with a few inches to spare on each side! He just dropped it off here after the last job but I was impressed, I didn't see him move it but have no clue how he did! :D
