I'm headed to Honolulu for a little vacation time. Any places you guys recommend?

I got back about a month ago, and I actually liked the tourist thing. I went to see the USS Arizona (Get tickets EARLY), the USS Missouri, climbed Diamond Head, went snorkeling in Hanauma bay, went to the Bishop museum, surfed Waikiki (you can also canoe, either way GO EARLY and avoid stupid people), and took in the sights of some beautiful local gals. There's also no shortage of really beautiful parks.

While snorkeling in Hanauma.

Same fish in an Asian market. :D

USS Missouri. The panorama makes it look funny, but it's a really amazing ship.

From a bunker on Diamond Head.

One of the many parks.

Make sure you have lots of sunscreen, and have a good one!

the Jazz Cellar was a neat little bar, but they didn't play jazz, they played hard rock (i.e. Black Sabbath and other bands of the jeanre)

One thing I highly recommend against is skinny dipping in Waikiki bay at 0:300 as the local constabulary really frowns on this, I know this from personal experience

Pearl Harbor memorial is very moving, you cannot bring just about anything with you though... no pocket knives etc.

There is a tourist attraction on the north end of the island of Oahu whose name escapes me at the moment, but it is a series of villages that show all the various south pacific islander cultures. Quite interesting, just don't get dehydrated and eat McDonalds before you go in... I did and felt like puking the whole time.

Bring/buy a good hat and wear it... you don't want to sunburn the top of your head. It will make your trip much less pleasant.

Visit the island of Kauaii (sp?) if you can... very laid back and beautiful. Waiamaia canyon, Nepali coastline, good golfing, take the helicopter ride if you can.
