Following the lead of Carrotstick and Jkoll over on the mod'ing thread, here is a place for pics of your Hawk and Sandwich combos. We all like Hawks and sandwiches, right?

Here you see two PBJs made with local bread, jam, and fresh roasted peanut butter. The bread is toasted, of course. Sandwiches come with two CS Axe Gang hatchets and a couple of chilled Full Sail Pilsners. I know these arent the greatest sandwiches but neither are the axes, are they? But who cares, everything on the stump will get the job done.

Ok - I will repost the old pic in here to get it going. No sandwich but making the sauce! Off on Friday so an epic sandwich pic will appear around lunch time! This is by far one of the most brilliant threads I have ever encountered across various forums :)

Should have never looked at this thread now i'm hungry for a PB&J

Yeah, this is some bull. Me too. My wife seems to not believe in an ol' simple PB&J, but man I grew up on them.

Either way, I can't wait till I've got some spare cash to buy a hawk. I'll try out a picture to post here when I do.

Tell us more about the sauce ... food and hawks... its all good

That was some killer sauce. Vodka sauce over penne. Mix of Amish Paste and San Marzano tomatoes from the garden, partially cooked and run through a mill to deseed and skin. Onion, garlic, olive oil, butter, basil, salt pepper. Simmer 3 hours. Add vodka, heavy cream and parmigiano reggiano. Crusty italian bread on the side. Amesome.

So here we have red leaf butter lettuce, prosciutto, pepperoni, aged provolone and stone ground mustard drizzled with olive oil on a crusty roll. The beer would not be my first choice, but since Irene destroyed the weekend BBQ plans I have a case of 'party' beer in the garage so I certainly can't let it go to waste :) The knife is there since it is prety tought to get mustard out of a jar with a hawk. Well, at least without it being full of glass shards. The drooling dog comes free with the sandwich.

Hawk and Mexican sandwich (taco) combo.

These are carne asada tacos, with harina tortillas, guacamole, cilantro, diced unions and fried beans. They are so good it hurts.

I love me some SN Summerfest... they've really improved their lager brewing over the years. Your sammich and axe, and dog look great, too.

This is the first time in years I had any SN lager and I thought it seemed much better than I remembered - actually really good.

Before you is a heavily modified Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk: Handle cut down to 16.5", wrapped in leather from my wife's 15 year old sandals that went gunny bag last week, leather swabbed in a think slurry of dirt and shellac ... secured with bronze nails. The head is ground down and etched with a Norse design, close to a true Nordic style, a jumble of animals, two drakes in this case. Antique browning.

The sandwich: Built to match the Norse axe, it features locally caught king salmon, cured by me in the usual spices and locally brewed Moonshine. Along with Danish cheese, lettuce from the garden, local heirloom tomato, dill pickles, mayo. Rye Bread.

Beer: Victory's Festbier. Can you believe it's that time of year?
