Howdy gents-

I'm considering picking up one of the CS hawks for myself as a late birthday present, to have something to mod and to use for woods duty.

I'm a bit torn between the Frontier hawk and the Trail hawk, however. Pics, (probably unnecessary):

The hawk will be used for general light chopping and camp chores. Anyone own both that has an opinion one way or the other?

Thanks much-

Spooky,

I would go with the Trail Hawk. If you plan to use it for camp chores, being able to use it as a hammer is a must to me. I have a Trail Hawk myself and I'm very happy with it. Is this your first hawk? Be careful many people get a hawk and then catch the "modification" virus. And then have to purchase another and another. It is a vicious cycle and very contagious. :D:D

Personally I think the broader blade of the frontier makes it the better chopper of the two, but the poll on the trailhawk makes it more versitile.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. That sounds a lot like what I've been thinking. I'm also thinking that it would be foolish to try and implement a hawk as a primary woods tool, so I may get one just to have as a toy. The Trail hawk seems most amenable to minor cosmetic surgery, so I may go that route.

Thanks for the advice.

Well I just ordered the Trail hawk, so we shall see! I'm really looking forward to mod'ing this thing. It will make a good companion to a bowie/big blade...
