99% of time most of work alone in the shop. Having someone there to help when drifting a tomahawk is real nice :D

I made up this rig to sit on top of my anvil to aid when drifting the eye. You can plop you drift in there to be at the ready too. I guess if you wanted you could weld on a drink holder :)

It's just some heavy walled pipe that I slammed the drift into when hot to take the shape of the eye.

Now quit all the whining, go buy something, shut the hell up :D

Mark, I did something simular to that. It was just to high to get a good hit on the drift for me. Let me see if I can attach the picture of what I came up with. I've got a piece of heavy walled pipe imbedded in concrete. I used a piece of 6" pvc and a 12" X 12" X 6" base filled with concrete and some rebar. It sets alot lower and makes it easier to do the drifting by yourself.

The slow part for me is slitting the hole. Not too bad if I have a striker but still slow. Any great ideas?

yep... put a little bit of coal dust in the slitting hole.... it'll help to release the chisel when you pull it out...... works good with difts too

so... " just member to put a little coal in the hole"

Mark's driftin thingy worked great. Now I have to find someone fool enough to hold it while I hit it.
