I asked John to put the 2 lanyard tubes in my Belt Hawk when he rehandled it for me so I could put a D Guard on it & I finally got around to doing it.
I was going to use Paracord, but was feeling too lazy for all the lacing involved.
That and I felt leather would look better with the hawks' Oak handle.(all natural materials ya know)
So I copied one I had a long time ago made by ChuddyBear IIRC.(It came with a SAR5 I had)
It's a nice simple design that anyone can do in under an hour if you have the tools.

The cheap part is I got the leather & lace from the local Value Village(don't know if they're in your part of the country, but think Goodwill)after shopping around the net & not liking the prices for materials I saw.(being the cheap sunofagun that I am.)
Anyway,I found a nice plain belt & a fancy woman's belt made of several strands of lace all woven together for a couple of bucks apiece.
I did a bit of cutting,hole punching,a little lacing & wala.(thats voila 'merican style ;))

A D Guard might be unconventional for a Hawk, but they sure lock a handle in hand preventing rearward movement which I've found to be common with most hawk handles & some choppers I've had.
Especially the traditional tomahawks with their tapered handles.
Anybody that's used one knows what I mean.(I assume)

Thanks Andy,in my experience a D Guard helps tremendously,whether a knife or a hawk.

Cool. I never would have thought of that.
