I just got a CS spike hawk, and the handle is simply pathetic. It's ridiculously long, not even CLOSE to straight, and looks like a crap sammich. I would like to get a better quality, more attractive handle. Advice and pics very welcome

You can always make your own out of a sledgehammer handle. I've used that method more than once.

Crazy Crow and Track of The Wolf have a great selection just a little sanding and put your finish of choice.

If/when you get a replacement .. it'll need to be shaped to fit your hawk as it seems no two handles or hawks are the exact same size. If you use it for field work, I'd say stick with with a piece of American Hickory. They're cheap in price but hold up strong. You can stain it to a color of your choice or leave it natural. Common 'prettier' handles that arent too pricey are Curly Ash and Curly Maple. You can flame the wood to make their accents 'pop'. There's also exotic woods available (ie: coco bolo, bubinga, zebra), but some of them can cost more than your CS hawk. Finishing, I prefer no stains. I coat the wood in Tung Oil (let it set), wipe off excess, and use common finishing paste wax. You're welcome to PM me any questions .. or request pics of what some finished handles look like of a particular species of wood.

If your not too bad at wood working I would recommend you keep the hickory handle and do some work to make it your own. You could sand it and stain it, make burn marks, varnish it etc...

I think perhaps i didn't fully explain what was wrong with my handle. It is severely bent. No amount of wood working will fix it
