Hello, i was hoping to get some reccommendations from the knowledgeable folks on this subforum.

I am in the market for a wood chopping tool of some sort.
This will be for limbs in my yard when i trim the 15 trees every two years. I get a decent amount of wood, and have the last few trims still stacked up ready to split.
It will also be for fire duty when camping, and also cutting back fallen trees that are on the horse trails and hunting trails. Larger deadfall than waht is suitable for my kuk.
I would also like it portable enough to take car camping or on the horses. I wont be packing it when hiking or backpacking.

I dont think i need or want a full size axe.
It really wont get a lot of use at all, so i dont want to invest much money, basically as little as possible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys

That's easy. What you just described is the handiest axe of all, a boys axe. It's the perfect size for the tasks you just described. I'm partial to finding a good old one and fixing it up but you can do well just to grab a new boys axe from Council Tools.

No shame in a man using a boys axe. They're handy as can be. Also called a 3/4 axe or a pulpwood axe.

thanks guys. I didnt even know there was such a thing as a boys axe. hah.
Sounds good to me though. Im an old fart, so might be nice to have a boys axe. lol

The Council Tool Sport Utility version of the boys axe are really nice and are affordable too. I like the 28” handle the best, but they have it with a 24” handle too.
