Hawk head keeps slipping.

Got my Cold Steel Pipe hawk. Went ahead and sanded down the handle, and took all the black stuff off the head. Everything was good after finishing sanding, but had it sitting next to my bed for a few weeks. Finally got a chance to try out the edge I put on it and wasn't thinking the play it had at the bottom of the band that fit around the handle would make a difference. Apparently it does. What can I do to try and fix it? I was thinking about shaping the inside top part of the head. Thoughts, suggestions. TY
 
I usually clean up the inside of the head to improve fit, grind out high spots with a dremel and work the handle down a little also if needed. The inside of a lot of the heads are very rough so cleaning that up may be all you need to do. Could also try a different handle, some fit better than other out of the box.
