I am looking for a 'Hawk which is if greater quality than the Cold Steel offerings in regards to head to handle attachment, handle shape, edge geometry, steel and sheath. The price should come in at under the 'Hawks by ATC as obviously they fit the above description.

I'm real pleased with my Ryan Johnson Plains War Hawk.

He inlet the wire wrap & tacks on the handle so that it could be easily replaced with a plain one for throwing, etc. In fact, I'm off to play with it again in a couple of hours.

Ryan makes several styles of these "rasp" hawks that would fit your criteria. You can mix-n-match head & haft styles and he will also adjust the differential tempering to your wishes/intended uses.

Cliff,

Try the rasp tomahawks at www.rmjforge.com I recently picked one up. It is excellently made. Sturdy, sharp, and customizable. Comparing it to the Riflemans's Hawk from Cold Steel that I have is like comparing one of those AC "kukris" to a HI offering. Less expensive than the ATC hawks too. Sheath costs extra.

I like harleys hawks. That Boy hit a good one with them.

Harley's hawks look real nice, but I think they're north of the price range Cliff was looking for.

I'd say you should take a look at Two Hawks (aka Robert Thalmann). Here's his site. His Longhunter model (a medium sized utility hawk) comes in around $100.

Mine should be arriving in about 2 or 3 weeks and I'll try to post some pics and a review when I get the chance.

[Oops - just noticed MDP already mentioned him above]
