Got up to the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa last month. It recently expanded into new facilities, which are pretty plush. The exhibits are in chronological order, and the first section of the museum deals with war in early Canada.

They had a couple of nice 'hawks and an old British boarding axe on display:

The pipe hawk is similar to the one we're coming out with and we have a Naval Boarding Axe coming out that's more the Great Lakes style than the British. Hope to have some pics soon. And yes, Brody, the pipe is still coming! :D

haha, been meaning to hit up this anthropology mueseum in Philadelphia, heard they have some old tomahawks their. If I get their i'll try to take some pictures.

We went to the military museum on Fort Lewis and they have a tomahawk on their display of the soldiers that travelled with Lewis & Clark. We're thinking of doing a reproduction of that model, also.

It is sort of interesting that the Brit boarder is one that is considered the last true British boarding axe with many of this pattern having a 1890s date on them. It is also kind of wierd that after this model they went back to a style of small fire axe that is hard to tell from some of the ones that proceeded this one. The earliest brit boarders though had a pretty kool "hawk bill" cropped spike. I am currently trying to get together one of all three of the Brit French and American boarding axes. I have what would be considered #1 and #3 of the French axes and #2 #3 of the American axes. Still looking for that #1 American axe though I think it might be hard as it looks so wild with the backwards facing teeth to make even the lowest watt person take pause. I'm still waiting for my American #2 that I won on ebay as an "old strap hatchet"' I would have gotten it for next to nothing but I got it for $400 as all it took was one other person knowing what it was. The underbidder wrote to me to let me know what it was in case I didin't know. Fat chance at $400 huh? lol
