It seems that all I have been doing lately is making sheaths :). I managed to do some work on this one in between.

This knife is name after Oliver Hazard Perry; a great lakes naval officer during the war of 1812. He's pretty popular in north west Ohio ;).

I forged the blade from 3/8" 1065, 10.25" blade, wrought iron guard, bronze ferrule, curly maple handle, 15.25" OAL.

I'm happy how this one turned out.

I'm getting married tomorrow and I'm thinking about using this for our cake knife... :D

That blade turned out awesome!!!!! I enjoyed the "making of" thread.

Congrats on getting married! :D

Both knives turned out great Matt - that's a real nice piece of maple for the handle on the big bowie and a very cool-looking hamon as well.

Looks like green canvas micarta on the small one to me. Whatever; I like it. But, I LOVE the big bowie! I want one; but, I want African Blackwood on mine. :)

Beautiful! Love the domed pins... both knives look great all around!

And congratulations!!!

Geeze Matt that is a great knife!!!!

I hope to see it in person at the Hammer-in.!!

Getting married tomorrow??????? WOWoooo.......

Congrats Matt.....split that cake right down the middle....!!

I used a 12" Bowie that I taped under the table and wielded it at the last minute....hehhehee

Grea knife, love the Hamon.

One piece of advice on the wedding. Even if she says she doesn't want to do that thing where you guys smear wedding cake on each other's face, trust me, she will do it to you, don't be fooled into not being prepared for a retaliatory strike. :)

Matt, I'm really starting to hate you. I have sent a party out to break your legs and all your fingers!

I told them to hold off until after your honeymoon :)

In all seriousness, AWESOME!!!

Totally cool, first class stuff.

I LOVE that bowie. The lines and materials... and the hamon just kicks ASS!!!

Top notch bud :D

The knife? About as dramatic and clean as it gets. You must've been inspired!

I really like those, especially the larger one!

PS: Has she requested her own KMG yet?

Awesomw Matt!!!!

So glad to hear you are going to make an honest woman out of your fiance......ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! :D I wish you all the best in your life together. Life truly starts after you say "I Do" . Enjoy all the times, good and bad, as bad times with your wife are better than good times alone.
