Haze near the edge of my FBMLE

I was cleaning my FBMLE last night and when the light hit it just right, it had a haze on the last 3/16ths of the entire edge. Almost like a temper line you see on Japanese swords but not wavy... it was pretty straight and went all the way to the tip. I'd take a picture but the satin finish on the blade just makes the entire thing shine when the camera flash hits it. Anyone else notice this... Are they heat treated differently on the edge than on the spine? or is it just a bi-product of the primary grind?

I am pretty sure what you are seeing is not a temper line because INFI is through hardened. I am guessing that it might be from the polishing belt that they use to polish the final edge of the knife. The person sharpening/polishing may have used a different angle than the actual edge angle.

It also may have come from the scotchbrite type satin belts used for putting on the satin finish.

It is really hard to say without seeing a pic but I am pretty sure it is not a temper line.

the convex edge will make it look like that sometimes cause the edge kinda rolls over...it does on my scrayard LE 6....

I almost caught the elves that did that to mine...

They were all standing around it... and there was one that... well...
as best as I could describe it... was drooling all over my FBMLE.:eek:

So... one more vote for elves.
