Hello. I am getting my first Swamp rat. it's a HCLE with Okuden Kydex. Can anyone please give me a brief history of this knife. I want it for a Smaller EDC FB. I was thinking Dozier, but this seemed more attractive. I've had Busse before. What does the name mean? How do any of you guys that own it like it? Is it Fast in the hand? A Good fighter? I'm useing a shivworks Disciple to aquire it. It seem more useul and well rounded all around. any info is apprecieated. thanks

My favorite in a knife fight is my 1911, no muss no fuss. You can't beat this one for EDC for it's size and edge holding ability. It's a thinner blade than any other Swamp Rat and slices like the devil. Not much history, it first appeared in the flesh at the 2008 Blade Show even though it was available to reserve one through advance order at the 'Store.' The best fighting knife I've seen so far is a machete in the hands of a Costa Rican sugarcane cutter, you'd be better trying to fight with a bush hog!

I wish I could remember who did that quote. Though, no one wins in a knife fight. The most horrific wounds can be made from the smallest blade.
I like my little Hairy Carry, its skinned and processed a few deer and pig this year, and its not too awful hard to put an edge on with a god diamond hone.

I don't mean fight, like I'm some kind of knife fighter, I just mean for EDC carry instead of a folder. I do Kali though. Just making sure I'm getting a nice EDC size do it ll FB. Concealability and speed are really important to me. I have my Barretta cougar 8000 15+1 in a bianchi IWB holster if I need to fight with a knife. I'm useing a shivworks Disciple to get it. Thats a good "fighting" knife. just really limited. these are the same size, The HCLE has a really great blade shape. But I haven't handled one. And I hear Okuden Kydex is great. So is it a good choice? of course it is, I'm in the SWKW forum
everyone is allways saying that about fighting with a knife. simple fact: Cops shoot people with knives for a very good reason. If you where attacking someone wouldn't you rather not go against a extremely strong person with a sharp "Combat" knife? I wouldn't.
