HD 7 inbound

I've got a "reground" HD 7 inbound that a gentleman is adding to a trade. He says that the previous owner reground the edge and it "doesn't look like an Emerson anymore...". I'm not a big fan of tanto blades. He said that Emerson would replace the blade for @$80. I was wondering if there was anyway to replace it with a non-tanto blade? I doubt Emerson would be willing to do it, but I was wondering if anyone out there knew of other blade shapes that might "work" as a do it yourself project? It's a frame lock, that I like. I'll let you know more when I see it, sometime next week.

i would think any cqc7 blade would fit. i have interchanged a couple of mine and they work fine.

try a 7a blade, its a spearpoint.
 
Well, got the HD 7. Love the frame lock, tanto isn't terrible, but someone has pretty much ruined it. Still hoping to find a spearpoint to drop in.

"ruined" pretty much describes most tanto EKI's i have seen were someone tried to make them into a "v" grind.

change the blade, learn to love it, or sell it and get a "V" grind knife if thats what ya want vs ruining a good knife.

i have only seen one EKI (a commander) which looked and functioned "OK" after these mods and i woulda swapped it for an unaltered commander anytime, and thrown in some $$ to boot.

sometimes folks just dont use good judgement imho.
 
Got the HD and for a tanto it isn't bad. Contacted Emerson and they said a CQC 7A blade wouldn't fit.
