Ha-ha... fooled you!

It should be here on the 30th. I'll post pics then. I'm just really excited. Got the call from Darrel yesterday.

This thing is a beast! In a good way. This is also my first knife with Darrel's AO. I'm not a fan of AO in general, this being said, I think it's more appropriate for blades under 4". I'm not a fan and I will probably disconnect it. I haven't cut anything with it yet but it will probably find its way into my carry rotation.

I just removed the AO and it is so much soother and quieter. For reverse clip placement, the CF overlay must be removed. It causes much too much drag on a forward wave draw.

I majorly butchered this one, but I'm very happy with the results. The flipper hindered my wave draw tremendously. The textured CF did the same. Both are gone. Before you get on me about "destroying" a 1/12 knife, I'm a user. This will be my primary right pocket goto/SD knife.

Oh man CM. It hurts seeing what you did to that knife. But what's the use of paying so much if it isn't exactly what you want? More power to you for modding it to fit your needs.

Exactly! I told Darrel I didn't want any AO or overlays but this is what I got. Nothing against DDR. I'm blessed to own such a knife. This is 3rd DDR in my collection and I love them all. I'd consider it an honor if the end user/operator mods any knife I make.

Man Charlie Mike,

I like your collection, but IMO you should seriously stop modding your knives. If you want to have fun mod cheaper knives until you become decent at it.

Just my thoughts, great knife (before).

I think I'm going to put some thin leather in place of the CF. Either black or very dark brown 1.5-2 oz thickness.

very nice matt, but yeah, i would've let it be, but it ain't my knife. Too bad you did it before I've gotten a chance to make it over there and check her out, but oh well. Leather wouldn't be a bad idea though

If the clip was to tight with the inlay, could you of just bent the clip out to relieve some of the tension?

That is a shame on what you did to that knife!!! I think I feel sick.

If you didn't want AO, why didn't you send it back to DDR?!

It's going to Reese tomorrow for a different flatter inlay and a repositioning of the clip an inch lower from where DDR put it. For me, form follows function. This knife will be carried and used. I hate the safe queen mentality. I'm not a collector, I'm a user and accumulator.

I hear you, but you should have just sent the knife off to Reese to do the mods, since it's ending up there anyway!
Some mods I can do at home, and the number of things I can do increases over time, BUT there are many mods I leave to the professionals(like STR).

I have no safe queens, but that knife kinda makes me sad too.

P.S.-I learned my lesson by royally screwing up some decent knives in my early years. Quite sad(that poor, poor Spyderco Police, for one)

I need the extra inch of handle to get the proper wave grip. The lanyard helps for ring and pinkey grip. I like L/R tip up for a forward p'kal grip on my wave. I want a flat handle/inlay so there will be less drag on my pocket.

My ideal knife may be ugly, but it should be 50/50 utility and offense/defense.
