After looking at the Emerson site, I am confused. What is the difference in reality, to make the HD so much more pricy?

The HD has a titanium framelock for the locking side. Big old slab. I'll rummage up a pic.

Here we go (pic taken from this thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/341553-My-First-BIG-Show)

This.^ A "slightly" wider blade.
The handle is slightly different also. Look again.
I always wondered why a new model and no RIL, aka, framelock, CQC7?

It's also WAY smoother than any linerlock Emerson because it doesn't have the double detent. I've been carrying one for the past 9 months and I can say with certainty that it is worth the extra cash over a standard 7.

The more recent generations of Emersons have one detent. My Zealot for example

My Regiment only have one detent as well. With two large washers it is indeed very smooth!

The special runs are all single detent. Regular productions are still double detent. To be honest, I think they should do away with it altogether, but that's for another thread.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the HD7 discontinued? (or was it a limited run from 2006?)

There is a slight possibility that all future models will have a single detent. Especially if you all like them so much. I know I do!!

Got my HD-7 yesterday.

It's the best Emerson I've owned. Also the stickiest lock..been having serious trouble trying to disengage it (comes to the point where a flat head is needed), but I'm counting on that breaking in eventually.
