Hey Steve,
I'd like your opinion on this. I thought about having Tom Krein put a zero grind on my HD. Have you ever seen an Emerson done like this? Do you think it would be a good idea ? Or should I leave well enough alone? Thanks, Steve.

Sure I've seen it done. I don't do it but some feel its easier for them to sharpen this way. I just had one in here the other day done up by the owner of it that way only it was a SARK.

I'm sure Tom could do it but I'm not sure thats what I'd go for. I'd probably ask him to take a 7 A blade after I found one to fit the HD7 and then flat grind it or put a nicer 14" wheel hollow grind to it like he did my Jess Horn ZDP only not that thin of course.

Its really a personal thing. I'd say if you are not ready to sharpen the zero grind that maybe its best to leave it alone and stick with what is easier to maintain vs what may be challenging. For example I've always liked convex grinds but I don't have the patience to deal with the sharpening requirements to maintain them. I've heard guys say it ain't that hard but for me its always just amounted to frustration. I'd sooner get out the Edge Pro and do up a right nice bevel on it and finish it up on the sharpmaker in minutes rather than deal with it but they are nice when someone else does em!:D
