Today is the highlight of this trip. I wanted to do this hike since last September but did not managed to make it happen till today.
The weather was perfect. It was bright and sunny on a cool 15 degrees Celsius day.
We started by walking through this forest of bamboo
The trail is built along a small stream.
Through the forest of bamboo, we are welcomed by wide open land and small hills
I scaled a 416m hill in search of this view. This is the highest point in that area.
The climb down to take a closer look of this marine park was the most challenging part of this hide. We had to use an unofficial trail to cut through a secondary forest. I was too tired to take any pictures of this part of the hike. Fortunately, we did not got lost in the forest but it did took us 3 hours before we reached the old village. Life is peaceful here as it is completely cut off from the outside world. You either have to hike 3 hours to get here or take the ferry which only operate on weekends.
The village is staring at this view everyday. Maybe that is why they can afford to be disconnected from the outside world.
The return leg of the hike
I am completely exhausted after this 15km hike which took 9.5 hours to complete. This Tsingtao beer tasted so nice after this challenging and rewarding hike.
Cheers!
