I have been looking into getting one of these. Problem is there are many different opinions on what the best light is. Everything I have read about the HDS is great. But the cost is usually $100 more than say a Fenix light that is comparable. I own a Fenix PD10, P3D, and TA21. What I am looking for is a Pocketable, 1CR123a light similar to the PD10, but with a clicky. Now, Fenix makes a PD20 that has a clicky and fits those specs. But I have heard nothing but the best of HDS and wanted to try it. Is it worth the price jump to the HDS? (Looking at the HDS EDC Executive 170). Seems to be the perfect light, but need some reassurance that the extra cost is worth it ($159 for the HDS vs. $59 for the PD20). Thanks!

If you've done much reading on CPF, you know how highly the HDS is spoken of, and how few complaints it gets.
You know how adequately Fenix lights perform.
It's kind of like a Benchmade/Spyderco vs Sebenza issue.
A 3rd option is the Sunwayman V10R which is what I chose, and I like it a lot.

I decided to drop the $200 on a HDS Clicky Executive 200. Looking forward to getting it, and I will make sure to post up my thoughts after i carry it for awhile. Thanks for the input!

HDS makes some awesome stuff, but they can be very hard to get. We are out of stock on them more often than not. The current iteration of the company is relatively young, so I think they are going through some growing pains as they catch up with demand. The lights are definitely worth the wait though.

I have the most expensive one with titanium bezel and sapphire glass, it should be the toughest light out there and I dropped it 1 time from my pocket on the floor and now it's broken, still have to send it back :P
So a Fenix, Olight, Jetbeam or something else would be just as good.

I dropped the 200 on the HDS rotary 200 Exec S model about 2 months ago. Cant say that I am dissipointed that I did. They are worth the money even though it might seem like a lot. Im by no means a "flashaholic" but this light just blew my mind when I saw it. Wish it came with a clip but there are MANY carry options if you search around. It has not left my side since I brought it.

You will enjoy your purchase!

Sapphire is more scratch resistant, but not more tough. A plastic lens would be tough and shock resistant, but prone to scratching.

I tell you what, I was really looking forward to this light. Ordered from TacticalLEDs.com and they said it was in stock last week. Hadn't had any shipping info sent to me this week and called to check on it. It was backordered the whole time and they never told me. I had them cancel my order and still haven't seen my money credited back to my paypal acct. I will give one word of advice, don't order from these guys. They don't return emails. Now off to find another order location!
