Probably a chief's sword. Rare version of the Dayak Mandau.

Ferrule is silver. Scabbard is newer than blade and handle, but still vintage.

Your comments please?

Bill...what is known of their manufacturing methods? Similar to the Nepal kamis? Anything special going on there?

Is that real human hair?

Or better still... If that's human hair, Is it there by permission of the owner?

Very nice! Is that ivory on the handle?
I wonder when it was made?

The handle is stag horn. This is traditional.

The hair is probably human.

It is probably about 150 to 200 years old.

Will find out about manufacturing process. Don't know.

Thanks for looking.

Very interesting piece.

The hair is intriguing. Assuming it's human - or, even if it's not - what is the significance of it? Is it a standard form of decoration or something special?
